Please note:
All players are expected to play within the following rules set out below. We will enforce a strict code of conduct within our community and act on behaviour that breaks it.
All PVP must have an in character roleplay reason behind it.
You must give some IC warning the PVP will start.
You must not use PVP as a tool for griefing.
The following items are prohibited in all types of PVP encounters unless all parties agree to allow them prior to combat:
You may not PVP in areas designated by the admins as neutral areas such as the starter area.
You should not be engaging newbies in PVP, let them get established first.
If you are knocked out in a PVP conflict you may not rejoin the fight. You must let the fight be resolved and not continue fighting endlessly.
You MUST self-report all PVP encounters that result in breaking things or taking things in an admin ticket.
Example 1 - Bob has raided my settlement for carrots. My character goes to find him to challenge him. I walk up to Bob and say "you stole my carrots, prepare to die.". I give him some chance to respond
Example 1 path A - Bob says "it wasn't me" and blames it on greydwarves and offers to help me recover my carrots. I accept and we live happily ever after.
Examples 1 path B - Bob says "if death is what you want so be it". Pvp battle. I lost. I roleplay as wounded. Bob takes more of my carrots and leaves.
When killed by another player, you must accept that as a lost fight.
Similarly, the winning player must be magnanimous in their victory.
It is always the decision of the character's player to perma-kill their own character.
No one can kill another’s character without an approved CK Ticket or permission from the victim’s player.
You must accept consequences for your loss and move on.
This should include returning to your body and roleplay as a wounded person. This leaves you at the mercy of the attacker’s emotes, and you cannot wield any weapons/fight anything. (Ex: If you emote tying someone up, a wounded person cannot resist successfully or it will be failrp.) You must roleplay as a wounded person for at least 30 minutes from the time you return to your body.
If you are defeated in battle and driven out, you should leave the area or accept the possibility of being permanently killed.
Example1: Bob and Fred fight over a carrot. Fred dies. Fred cannot simply revive and go back to fighting Bob like nothing happened. Fred needs to accept his defeat and move on. Fred can acknowledge himself as wounded 'ow that really hurt, i must have blacked out' 'huh where am i' etc
Example2: Bob can't camp and kill Fred over and over either. Bob can't taunt Fred how he died.
Stealing is defined as taking anything without permission. You may not steal without a roleplay reason and a direct roleplay interaction. Stealing without roleplay is considered a form of griefing.
A raid is defined as an unauthorized entry or attack on another player(s) resources or base. This includes boats. Changing a player's signs is considered a raid. You are not allowed to rename a player's tames.
If you break something or build something to gain access to another player’s base it is considered a raid even if you do not take anything (i.e. rob them).
Raids must have a roleplay reason.
No offline raiding, the affected player(s) must be in-game.
A raid does not have to include a robbery. If the intended target is online but not present you must only leave something rather than taking something. Example: notes, signs, broken doors or windows rebuilt poorly to indicate an entrypoint, etc. send a provoking raven and give them at least 30 minutes to return. You may only rob as part of a direct confrontation.
Raids on bases can break doors, gates, and walls to gain entry.
Raiding parties are limited to a maximum of 5 players but defending party is limitless.
Players should not subvert defenses unrealistically. This includes but is not limited to:
Destruction should be minimal and only to gain entry, not to grief builds.
Be aware of the Ward Rules in regards to raiding unwarded structures.
Use of monsters to attack someone’s build is considered griefing and will result in a ban. If you come across a monster attacking someone’s house, report it immediately with screenshots or you may be found liable.
If a player dies during a raid, they must let the raid continue and roleplay as wounded.
Wounded players must sit out the fight, and not run around in the middle of it.
Defenders and Raiders must let wounded people collect their tombstones and sit out.
If there is a clear victor in the raid, the victor can demand things from the losing party. Raid demands must not be devastating to the loser, the primary win from a raid is bragging rights.
Good Example: Bob has left to fight more people for more carrots, so I decide to go to his house. I cannot TAKE anything, but I can leave notes and break a window. My first note says “this is for my carrots!” and my second one is “I farted on your pillow”. Bob will find them when he gets home, but I will be long gone.
Unacceptable Raid: Bob has left to fight elsewhere, and I go into his house and take back my carrots before he even knows I was there.
Unacceptable Raid: Bob is not online from what I can tell, so I go to mess with his home while he is not in game.
Robbery is defined as any hostile action taken by a player or players on another player or players where items are taken via the threat or use of force.
If you must gain unauthorized access to a building in order to rob someone it is also a raid.
A robber MUST state what they want to take from a person. You can only rob someone of ONE item or a reasonable amount of a resource (e.g. a stack of berries, a few pieces of iron, what the victim offers to be left alone). If they refuse to comply with the robbery and choose to fight, two items can be taken from the defeated party. (If you don’t want someone to rob you of what they demand, try to offer them something else! Roleplay with your enemies!).
DO NOT steal anything from a gravestone that you find randomly. If you come across a gravestone, you HAVE to wait for the person to get back to their body so that you can rp with them before taking anything. Keep in mind, they will have to rp as a wounded person, so they shouldn't be able to resist your demands. If you find a gravestone in the wild, report it to the admins. You must have OOC permission with screenshots reported to the admin team if you are going to touch someone else’s gravestone.
Tamed animals are eligible for robbery and each tame count as 1 item in a robbery.
You May Take | You May NOT Take | |
---|---|---|
Small amount of gold (up to 999) | More than 50% of any resource | |
Consumables (Food, Potion, Mead) | Personal Armor | |
Items the victim offers through RP | Weapons | |
Cheap Tools (e.g. made with wood/stone) | Expensive / Metal Tools | |
Up to 15 ore or metal | Multiples from the okay list* | |
1 stack of any resource (non-metal) | 1 Bee (if 1 is all they have) | |
1 tamed animal (if they have more than 2) | Boats |
Please note:
You may only take up to half of any resource. If all they own is 10 raspberries the most you can take is 5 of them.
When a raid has occurred the antagonist must open a self-report Admin ticket about who was targeted and what was done.
The victim of a raid may post a log in the #raid-log channel detailing their raid/robbery cooldown.
Raid Log Template:
(Victim Name) (was robbed/raided) (CD Length) (When does CD expire)
The victim can decide the cooldown up to a maximum of [48] hours from the time of the raid.
Retaliation by said victim will end their cooldown. Not logging a robbery/raid is choosing to not have a cooldown.
Example: A street robber sticks Billy Bob up and takes their berries. It wasn’t that big of a deal so Billy decides he’s okay with having a shorter cooldown. Billy Bob adds to the raid-log
“Billy Bob was robbed. CD expires in 12 hours (8AM EST)”
Example: Bandits raid and rob the village of Riverwood. One of the members of Riverwood posts in raid-log
“Riverwood was raided and robbed. CD expires in 48 hours (Wednesday @8pm)”
Riverwood decides on Tuesday to retaliate against their attackers. The original poster of the raid log edits the entry to remove the CD.
“Riverwood was raided and robbed. The CD expired.”
Example.
The Black Shield Bandits attack Brona of Riverwood and rob her of some raspberries. For the next 12 hours the town is on high alert.
An hour later the Blue Hat Bandits try to sneak into the Cookhouse but seeing the town on high alert are deterred.
The next day the Blue Hat Bandits return and are able to break into the Cookhouse and steal some Deer Stew! Once again Riverwood is on high alert for the next 12 hours.
Riverwood being fed up of being picked on rallies their militia and attack the stronghold of the Black Shield Bandits and take back their berries immediately after their Deer Stew is stolen. Resetting their raid cooldown the Blue Hat Bandits strike again as they are coming back with the spoils and take the berries for themselves.
A resolution can be found through roleplay but if it cannot perhaps there will need to be a War.
A war is a series of (1-3) planned pvp battles between some groups. The terms of the war are decided OOC with the understanding that the victors of the war will get to claim the spoils.
An admin must oversee the battle to validate the result.
At the conclusion of the battle the victor must update #server-lore with a story of the battle.
At the conclusion of the war there is a 4 day cooldown for all parties involved
A cooldown means that all parties involved cannot provoke the other side for further escalation. No raids, robberies or wars are allowed during the cooldown.
A declaration of war must be made In Character by the leader of a group denouncing another and declaring War.
They must then open a ticket with a copy of the war declaration, RP reason for the War and desired outcome. They should also provide what they want to gain if they win and what they’re willing to lose if they do not. Once a well-formed declaration is made the admins will pull in the leader of the opposition to discuss the OOC terms of war. Through the OOC planning the War battles will be planned, number of warriors and the win/loss conditions for each group. Whether or not the stakes are known IC is part of the negotiation process.
Exceptions to standard world PVP rules may also be set as conditions for war (e.g. you can choose to allow blood mushrooms if both sides agree).
You may decide if there are small concessions for each battle and/or big concessions for winning the whole war (best 2 out of 3 if so desired). There is no limit to what can be on the table for spoils of war but it must be reasonable and not destroy the fun of the losing side.
Example
After suffering from the bandits for weeks now Riverwood declares WAR on the Black Shield Bandits. If they win, Riverwood demands that the Black Shield Bandits no longer terrorize their people and that they will provide Riverwood with 100 iron in tribute over time. Until the tribute is paid, Black Shield Bandits may not make iron armor for their own people. But if Riverwood loses the war, the Black Shield Bandits will truly take the town for what it's worth and steal from them 2 iron pickaxes, 4 honeybees and 3,000 gold.
The war will be decided as the best 2 out of 3 battles. Each battle will be until one side is KO’d and anyone left standing is permitted to take 1 armor or weapon from their choice of enemy. The maximum number of fighters for each side will be 10 or fewer. 2 non-combatant medics are permitted on the scene.
Any of these situations above should be ticketed, notifying the admins of the events occuring.
Kidnapping or imprisoning a character is limited to 1 hour. To keep someone for longer requires the victim’s OOC consent.
You must have an objective when you kidnap someone.
Kidnapping counts as a raid and is subject to a raid cooldown.
Torture RP needs explicit consent in discord DM. You must confirm it is ok with the victim before proceeding.
Suicide is an act that should be taken seriously.
We will ask you to ooc checkin with your closest comrades to make sure they can remove themselves if they have an IRL suicide trigger.
If you wish to have your own character die where blame shall be assigned let us know in the ticket. Suicide blaming can be a very triggering element, the ticket helps us communicate and prepare with those impacted.
If you’re making a public statement with your suicide, try to reach out to those who will be exposed the same way you would with torture or kidnapping roleplay. It is not forbidden but please take extra care for the humans behind the muses and check in.
If you intend to kill a character (yours or someone else’s) as part of a scene or conflict you must open an admin ticket and make a Character-Kill request. This does not need pre-approval if you are killing your character off-screen.
If you wish to kill or maim another player’s character you can propose your intent in a Character-Kill (CK) Ticket.
A CK Ticket must have
Intended Victim:
RP Reason:
Plan to Execute:
Timeframe of Plan:
A CK Ticket must have clear success and failure options and a solid roleplay reason. The timeframe must also be considered a reasonable time limit before any approval expires.
The admins may choose to approve or deny any CK Ticket without disclosing the reasons why.
If the target is someone who has engaged in repeated antagonistic behavior who by all reasonable roleplay perspectives might realistically be subjected to death or worse the approval may come without permission. Everyone else may be asked by admins if they are open to being maimed or killed without disclosing the meta information of who is asking.
You may never know if the situation you’re in might be your last. Fear accordingly.
If the kill occurs as a result of a PVP battle you must roleplay out the killing after the knock-out. Make sure that the victim clearly understands what is about to happen to them (Maim or Murder). If they need time to contemplate the situation (e.g. verify in a ticket) you must allow this. You should also notify the admins about your CK success (or failure).
Example:
The Blue Hat Bandits have been muscling in on Black Shield’s territory for harassment. The people of Riverwood don’t even know the difference between them as they just see all bandits as the same. So the Black Shields decide to target the leader of the Blue Hats, Jovia, and set an example. They intend to ambush the Blue Hats north of Riverwood this weekend, kidnap Jovia, and cut off his hand.
An OOC ticket is made requesting the CK on Jovia to maim them. The admins approve the ticket so on Saturday the group gathers and waits.A PVP battle ensues between the Black Shields and the Blue Hats but Jovia runs away like a coward and even though the Black Shields won they didn’t capture the one guy they were after. The CK Ticket expires and the Black Shields need to come up with a different plan another time.
