Dark RP is what we refer to as especially heinous acts of violence, long-term imprisonment, cannibalism, public suicide, etc. ERP, or Erotic Roleplay, for our purposes, is any role-playing activity performed mostly, or exclusively for the purposes of sexual gratification.
In this server, certain adult themes are permitted in order to enhance the depth of roleplay, provided they adhere to the guidelines below.
Consent is Key: Any roleplay involving mature or violent themes requires the clear and ongoing consent of all parties.
Content Warnings: Use content warnings for any lore or posts involving sensitive or triggering content.
Respect Boundaries: Players' personal boundaries must be respected. If someone expresses discomfort, adjust or end the scene accordingly.
Anyone on the server is allowed to imprison, kidnap, or otherwise detain another player for up to one hour of real-life time without a ticket or consulting with the victim(s). If someone abducts you in any manner that doesn't violate any other rule for one hour, you are expected to comply. Beyond that, a ticket and consent are required.
Torture and mutilation of another character requires consent within a ticket. You should discuss limits, what will be done, what the expectations are between players, etc. Cannibalism falls under this rule. You may not mutilate another player in RP as a heat of the moment action. It must be agreed upon.
Suicide is an act that should be taken seriously. If you wish to have your own character die of suicide publicly within the live game setting, you must create a CK Ticket previous to the act listing the characters who will be exposed, your plan, etc. This will allow us to check in with the parties involved and ensure they are prepared for the scene. Suicide blaming, or public suicides with political/or other in-world statement intentions must be ticketed prior so that we can manage the scene and the players who will be exposed to it, as well as communicate with players beforehand who may witness it.
What Public Suicide Isn't:
Public Suicide by definition here is the result of you dying by your own hand/action in a public, in-game capacity with the intention of having others view & witness your last and final moments.
I have my character kill themselves off screen and leave a scene behind indicating what occurred.
I am chopping trees with a friend and a log falls on my head and knocks me out. I decide in the moment that this is a fine time to end my character, so I log out and declare myself dead.
Someone robs me and knocks me out without intending to kill me. However, I regain consciousness and realize I'm dying. I beg for help but before it arrives I bleed out and die.
I'm playing a character with a terminal disease. I'm not sure when I'll die but I know I'm going to, and I plan on having people around when I end playing them.
I plan on capturing the enemy of my character and forcing them to watch as I kill off my character in front of them. I ticketed this and the player of my enemy is fine with it. We've talked about what will happen and consent has been given.
I walk into the home of enemy and tell them they are the reason I'm killing myself, /die and log out. I didn't make a ticket and I never checked in with anyone.
I walk into a public marketplace and shout that the actions of the king are being ignored, I kill myself in the town square to draw attention to his crimes. I did not ticket this and I don't care who sees it.
I wait in my home for my friends to arrive and describe the wounds I have inflicted on myself and tell them I have chosen to die by my own hand. I did not ticket it and I made no effort to tell them beforehand this was happening.
If someone is making it abundantly clear to you that you have stumbled into a scene that involves Dark RP and you refuse to leave the area, it is considered griefing. Often times, players will have worked for days - if not weeks - with each other to set these events up, and will have done their due-diligence to ensure everyone present consents to everything that is set to occur. They cannot gather that level of OOC consent from you in that moment. You need to leave.
If you believe someone is acting inappropriately or have concerns about their RP, leave the area first, and then #create-a-ticket afterwards.
Lying in regards to just about anything IC is acceptable in VRP, and some characters may make it their entire personality. What you cannot do is lie about the occurrence of Dark RP, including sexual assault or ERP. Insinuating that a character may have sexually assaulted someone, or lying that a player may have performed an act of torture on another without consent, is forbidden in any and all cases IC or OOC. This is strictly enforced.
