Guidelines for character backstories for Season 13. This is in addition to the standard rules.
¶ Origin and Allegience
- All characters must be from the City-State of Gildemere.
- Characters may have traveled or worked abroad, but their home, roots, and citizenship must be tied to Gildemere.
- Players cannot be exiles at the start (but you can be a criminal, prisoner, etc)
- No player may be a member of the council
- No District Representative in Parliament
- Not the Monarch (Queen or King)
- Players may be a member of nobility but not the royal family.
- Players may not hold any official guild leadership role but they can be recognized members, specialists, artisans, apprentices
- Players may be tied to only one guild at the start.
- Cross-guild membership is not allowed. You are not required to choose any, but if you do it may not be more than one.
- District ties should be reflected in background and skills (e.g. Farmer’s guild member should have agriculture, animal handling or trade related experience)
- Characters may not start as a named or limited seat position. You can serve a Dagger but not be one of the 9 Daggers
- If you have an association with the Black Well you need to explain how you didn't get exiled alongside Dr La Hale. You cannot be a La Hale sympathizer.
- Overt magical practice is banned in Gildemere
- Characters cannot openly practice magic at creation
- Subtle “vanilla” magical talents (herbal alchemy, minor enchantments, traditional charms) may exist but should be treated as taboo
- Players cannot be Aberrants
¶ Story and Lore Restrictions
- Characters may not have been part of Dr. Luke la Hale’s inner circle before his exile.
- Characters may not be aware of Aberrant operations before the start.
- Characters may not be a failed experiment.
- Characters can have missing/dead loved ones attributed to Dr. La Hale.
