All players are expected to play within the following rules set out below. We will enforce a strict code of conduct within our community and act on behaviour that breaks it.
Always prioritize roleplay over rule-play.
You may not focus on out of character emotions, logic, or gains to the detriment of RP.
Example: Prioritizing CK right and other information you have gained OOC over more appropriate IC actions and behavior.
Example: Disliking a person OOC and innately disliking their character IC because of the OOC interactions.
Example: Using IC actions to justify actions towards others OOC.
You do not have to roleplay with everyone. If you do not wish to roleplay with certain characters, you do not have to. But there should be an in-game reason you create in order to keep things flowing storywise.
Example: Sally is not comfortable with romantic stories so Sally plays a character that is repulsed by public displays of affection. Whenever someone gets sentimental or mushy, Sally's character runs away.
Example: Bob does not like the kind of stories that Greg likes to tell. When Greg shows up at a public event and makes a scene, Bob's character gets a 'mysterious raven' that warns him that there might be greydwarves attacking his home and he has to leave right away.
Do not play in a way that does not make sense, breaking character, or otherwise doing something not suitable for the world.
Do not go out of character while in game. Discord, besides the ravens and character lore channels, is for out of character chatting.
Example1: You cannot talk about real life while in game
Example2: You see someone a rule broken, a glitch occur or someone not roleplaying correctly; You cannot call them out for this in-game. You must use discord for anything out of character. create a ticket for admin support.
Example3: you cannot use an unrealistic voice changer
The act of using an in-game mechanic, external information or a roleplay concept to favor their own character or story and give an unfair or unrealistic advantage.
Example 1: You cannot roleplay as invulnerable or a god. Being delusional is allowed but there should be ways for that delusion to break or be called into question.
Example 2: You cannot make a minigame/quest and always win.
Example 3: You cannot scout out the swamps and make maps of crypts during the bronze era because you know that’s where you find iron for the next one.
Example 4: You cannot roleplay having the favor of the gods / divine unless you have admin approval. If you want to roleplay religious power please use something like your belief/faith/devotion gives you power not an actual blessing from the gods.
Use of a player’s real-life knowledge concerning the state of the game or secrets about another’s character or story.
Example1: Knowing someone / their name before you have met them in character.
Example2: Knowing where people are going to be because they pinged on the map.
Example3: Knowing someone is going to be somewhere and waiting to rob them because you saw it on discord.
Example4: Knowing a key player will be offline and raiding their base during this time.
Example5: Using a location / map you saw in ooc when your character hasn't even been around the location.
Example 6: “Wow this meal gave me 200 blood points”
Do not go out of character whilst in-game.
Gamebreaking issues or problems must be addressed within RP, and later reported to the admin team.
Usage of "(OOC:)" brackets in text-chat is not acceptable. Use of emoji or chatspeak lol rofl lmao brb, is also not acceptable.
If you are having technical issues with hearing other players
Example IC explanation: "Forgive me friend, it seems my ears are blocked - give me a moment to unblock them."
If you are experiencing bugs i.e. invisible or broken items
Example IC explanation: "Ahh! The gods/spirits play tricks on my eyes! I cannot see what you refer to.
Your character can only understand UI information they obtain with a role play reason.
The following items are identifiable by their 'Crafted by:' tag:
Extra UI information that the game gives you that is not obtained with a roleplay reason should not be used by your character.
Example1: You meet a player for the first time, you have also not heard of them before - You are not able to refer to them by name.
Example2: You see a boat in a dock, in that boat is a shield. Looking at the boat, you notice the typical etching of one of Binary's ships. Looking at the shield, you see the mark of Hurke, the smith.
Ravens/Pigeons are short messages to be sent directly to another character. Usually including a @ping.
They CANNOT be used for:
Instant Messaging. Give travel time for ravens and imagine that they have 2 to 3 hour travel time. Wait 10 minutes before responding to a raven.
Notices. Do not ping towns or groups that you are not apart of. Do not ping people, towns, or groups in ravens as they are mentioned (they cannot see the raven IC, so why should they be pinged for it OOC) in the raven. Do not ping @everyone, @Season_Role, or @here.
@BobTheSmith A fat sow walks into your smith shop and grunts loudly.
A hastily scrawled message is scribbed onto a piece of leather scrap.
"Bring me new shovel, i give lots bacon -Ted"
@BobtheSmith Hey I'll be there in 15 minutes.
@everyone I need my bow repaired. Can anyone do it?
The information posted to character lore should be historical and reflect your character. What is shared in character lore should be considered meta and cannot be used in character as knowledge. If your lore contains triggering, suggestive or questionable content add a trigger warning before the post and encase the post in spoilers ( || text || )
Major server events are posted here and this information should be treated as “common knowledge”. This means if your character may know some or all of the information posted. This is used for major events such as the establishment of towns or the account of a major war where it is significant enough that everyone probably knows.
Formed by players in character. There must be at least 5 active members to be recognized.
Characters may be a member of 1 town and 1 guild.
Must have an identified OOC spokesperson for Admin coordination.
A discord role and channel will be made for the town/guild.
The discord channel is for coordinating OOC only.
Do not fight someone without roleplaying. In order to attack someone there has to be direct confrontation with roleplaying dialog before the fight begins.
Example1: you see a player with juicy loot. you cannot just snipe them from the shadows.
Example2: you want to fight someone. you cannot just randomly start attacking people.
You must value your life and make decisions accordingly. You can't just kamikaze / bull rush everything without fear.
Your character needs to have some limits and act somewhat realistically.
Example1: you are bored of exploring and want to get home fast, you cannot suicide.
Example2: a group of players hold you up 4v1, and make demands or will kill you. you must comply with their demands because you would surely die otherwise.
Example3: you know there is good loot in a chest but it is guarded by mobs way above your level and you have no chance of surviving. You cannot die, revive, and corpse run to your advantage.
Example4: the next island is quite far but you don't have a boat. you cannot just swim and hope for the best. you need to value your life enough to not throw it away swimming. You should be sure you can make it.
Example 5: You shouldn't be soloing high level mob camps / bosses. Your character should have a fear of death.
When your character dies you must open an admin ticket to inform the staff. You will be permitted to write a character-lore entry about your character’s death but once you have died you may no longer send in character ravens or make post-mortem messages. You will also experience a 72-hour cooldown from the time you open the ticket before your new character may be approved. Some exceptions may apply with admin pre-approval.
This is a voice role playing server. Your primary interaction with any players should be through the mumble voice chat.
We welcome and accept that some users may prefer to use text roleplay - however all players will be required to be in the Mumble server.
If you are not in mumble, you cannot hear other players talking to you.
Text roleplay is always an option, but it is not “signing”, it is considered “speaking” when in the game. If your character loses their voice, using text roleplay is not an indication of that.
Erotic and sexual roleplay is not allowed in game. Relationships and public displays of affection are allowed everywhere.
