Please note:
All players are expected to play within the following rules set out below. We will enforce a strict code of conduct within our community and act on behaviour that breaks it.
Do not play in a way that does not make sense, breaks character, or otherwise does something not suitable for the world.
Do not go OOC while in game. Discord, besides certain designated channels, is only for out of character chatting.
Example 1: You cannot talk about real life while in game
Example 2: You see someone breaking a rule, a glitch occur, or someone not roleplaying correctly; You cannot call this out in game. You must use discord for anything out of character. Create a ticket for admin support.
Example 3: You cannot use an unrealistic voice changer (robots, otherworldly sounds, etc.)
The act of using an in-game mechanic, external information or a roleplay concept to favor their own character or story and give an unfair or unrealistic advantage, or to take shortcuts IC that come out of a vanilla or non-RP playstyle. This can include things like using mobs to break rocks/trees, stacking carts on top of boats, using /die to return home, setting up mob farms, no-clipping into crypts, etc. etc.
Example 1: Jenny thinks they are a god. This is a delusion, and Jenny is cut down by the first swordsman they cross. They learn and stop telling people they're a god.
Example 2: Bilbo makes a maze that he shares with the world in server lore. However, he only gives his friends the keys so that they can reap the prizes.
Example 3: In stone age, Leif sneaks through the swamps marking all of the crypts before the biome has been opened so he can get all the iron right away.
Sometimes delusions, lies, and fabrications are all a part of the roleplay. You are always allowed to say whatever you want in character, just be prepared for the consequences and accept them when they come.
Use of a player’s real-life knowledge concerning the state of the game or secrets about another’s character or story.
Knowing someone / their name before you have met them in character because you see their name on the map.
“Wow this meal gave me 200 blood points!” "You hit me for 39 pints of blood!"
"Hmmm... I feel vibrations in the air that tell me the blacksmith is awake now"
Gamebreaking issues or problems must be addressed within RP, and later reported to the admin team.
Usage of "(OOC:)" brackets in text-chat is not acceptable. Use of emoji or chatspeak (lol rofl lmao brb), is also not acceptable.
IC example for OOC issues 1: "Hold on, I got some resin in my ears- give me a moment to unblock them."
IC example for OOC issues 2: "Ahh! The gods/spirits play tricks on my eyes! I cannot see what you refer to.
In game chat: (Hang on, brb)
Your character can only understand UI information they obtain with a role play reason.
The following items are identifiable by their 'Crafted by:' tag:
Ships
Items with a "Crafted By:" tag (Weapons, Food, Hammers, etc.)
Names on a bed
Names on a ward
UI Information that is never allowed to be used IC includes:
Instance count
Players online
Players name in chat or mumble
Other player locations on map
Ravens are short messages sent directly to another character in the Ravens/Seagulls/Season specific channel.
They require:
They CANNOT be used for:
Instant Messaging. Give travel time for ravens and imagine that they have 2 to 3 hour travel time. Wait 10 minutes before responding to a raven.
Notices. Do not ping towns or groups that you are not a part of. Do not ping @everyone, @Season_Role, or @here. Pinging towns or guilds you ARE a part of is acceptable.
Good Examples
@BobTheSmith A fat sow walks into your smith shop and grunts loudly.
A hastily scrawled message is scribbled onto a piece of leather scrap.
"Bring me new shovel, i give lots bacon -Ted"
@MyTown
A series of small parchments are left by hand on the doors of everyone in My Town. They seem to bear the familiar scratchy penmanship of the Jarl. They all contain the following text:
"Dear citizens of My Town: I am pleased to announce that after many trials we will finally celebrate the opening of our mead hall tomorrow evening, 7PM as counted by the eastern stars. Please share the word with all your friends, this is a monumental achievment for all of us. - Jarl Lastname."
Bad Examples
@BobtheSmith Hey I'll be there in 15 minutes.
@everyone I need my bow repaired. Can anyone do it?
The information posted to character lore should reflect your character. What is shared in character lore is considered meta information and cannot be used in character (Ex: If a character admits to a crime in their lore, you cannot know this in character). If your lore contains triggering, suggestive or questionable content add a content warning before the post and encase the post in spoilers ( || text || )
Major server events are posted here and this information should be treated as “common knowledge”. This means if your character may know some or all of the information posted. This is used for major events such as the establishment of towns or the account of a major war where it is significant enough that everyone probably knows, or other miscellenious information that the world can be aware of.
Create a ticket to discuss your server lore ideas with admins!
Formed by players in character. There must be at least 5 active members to be recognized.
Characters may be a member of 1 town and 1 guild. To create a town or guild, create a ticket. To join a town or guild that already exists, create a ticket with the IC permission of the town or guild leader.
Must have an identified OOC spokesperson for Admin coordination.
A discord role and channel will be made for the town/guild.
The discord channel is for coordinating OOC only.
The OOC spokesperson must post a server lore for any town or guild creation
An RDM is the act of engaging in a fight or violent behavior without roleplaying first. In order to attack someone there has to be a direct confrontation with roleplaying dialog before the fight begins.
Example 1: You see a player mining. You shoot at them with your bow from a distance so you can steal their ore.
Example 2: You want to fight someone, so you walk into town and start swinging your sword at random people.
Example 3: You challenge your neighbor to a duel for dishonoring you, telling them why they are being fought.
Example 4: You walk into town and loudly demand a fight from any taker. You wait for someone to accept your offer.
You must value your life and make decisions accordingly. You can't just kamikaze / bull rush everything without fear.
Your character needs to have some limits and act somewhat realistically. Your character, in general, should have a fear of death just like a person.
Example 1: You are bored of exploring and want to get home fast, so you hold your character underwater until they are knocked and you're returned to spawn.
Example 2: A group of players hold you up 4v1, and make demands or say they will attack you. You ignore the seriousness of the scene and tell them you're not going to die so you don't care.
Example 3: You decide to solo high level mob camps / bosses despite being knocked out reapetedly.
When your character permanently dies you must open an admin ticket to inform the staff. You will be permitted to write a character-lore entry about your character’s death but once you have died you may no longer send in character ravens or make post-mortem messages. You will also experience a 72-hour cooldown from the time you open the ticket before your new character may be approved. Some exceptions may apply with admin pre-approval.
This is a voice role playing server. Your primary interaction with any players should be through the mumble voice chat.
We welcome and accept that some users may prefer to use text roleplay, this is fine. However, all players are required to be in the Mumble server any time they are logged into the game. There are no exceptions to this rule for any reason, IC or OOC.
If you are not in mumble, you cannot hear other players talking to you.
Text roleplay is always an option, but it is considered “speaking” when in the game. You "hear" text chat the same as a speaking voice, in character. If your character loses their voice, using text roleplay is not an indication of that. You should find another method, like writing in-game notes.
This is an English-speaking server; while we have people from all over the world joining us to roleplay, we do ask that you are fully able to roleplay in English.
PG-13 relationships and public displays of affection are allowed everywhere.
Hiding explicit content behind jokes and innuendos is not acceptable if they are making people uncomfortable.
Other players cannot consent to your explicit sexual roleplay because the world is open. Therefore erotic and sexually explicit roleplay is not allowed in game.
Roleplay of disturbing topics that many people may not be okay with seeing or doing.
If you want to engage in any dark roleplay please follow these guidelines:
If players are making it clear to you that an intense scene is starting or in action and you've stumbled into it, you should give them the courtesy of immediately leaving the area. Inserting yourself into their intense scene despite clear indications otherwise is griefing. If you are concerned about the RP or that it may be rule breaking, make a ticket after you've left.
You are allowed to capture a player for up to one hour of real time without consent. After one hour, you are obligated to release them. Anything more requires Dark RP consent.
Taking a prisoner for a longer period of time, or arranging to have them incarcerated must be cleared between all parties before action is taken.
If you are playing a character who is keen on committing crimes or engaging in antagonistic roleplay, you should give others allowance to try and stop you. You are not obligated to be incarcerated, but performing antagonstic acts and refusing all consequences is Powergaming and Fail RP.
You are required to communicate with players through a ticket or DM before you engage in acts of cannabalism or torture against another player. You should agree on all boundaries beforehand and make sure consent is given. Precautions should be taken against other players stumbling onto the scene.
Suicide is an act that should be taken seriously.
You must do an OOC check-in with your character's closest comrades to make sure they can remove themselves from the RP if they have an IRL suicide trigger.
If you kill your character for the sake of blaming that death on someone else - let Staff know in a ticket. Suicide blaming is extremely harmful (IC and OOC), the ticket helps us communicate and prepare with those impacted.
If you’re making a public statement with your suicide, try to reach out to those who will be exposed the same way you would with torture or kidnapping roleplay. It is not forbidden but please take extra care for the humans behind the characters and check in.
While telling lies in character regarding just about anything is not against the rules at all, it is not permitted for you to lie about the occurance of Dark RP. Lying about non-consensual Dark RP happening to you or someone else in or out of character is against the rules. This includes non-consensual ERP. This is strictly enforced.
