Backstory
Once respected as a brilliant mind by the royal family and most of the city’s leadership he became frustrated by the representation of the Arts & Science district. Pushed others to join him in creating the first ever mage’s union to push for greater political force. Was a terrible politician though and stopped trying to get permission before conducting experiments.
His experiments with the newly discovered substance (eitr) was innocent at first, but as he started pushing limits with experiments, the council started taking notice.
First, it started with animals, then it started to include people here and there - first it started out as rather harmless experiments. People in the cities started disappearing - first vagrants and visitors, then citizens. It was around this time that the council investigated Dr. Hale’s research more thoroughly. The weapons and experiments were enough to push the council to ban magic and push the Dr and his most staunch followers from the city. The union was disbanded without its top leaders.
Now an exile, he’d lost all his tools and notes, but that did not deter him as he started again.
The fall started with the coming of spring.
The first wave of the “good’ doctor’s new and improved “Aberrants began their siege on the city.. It seems his years in exile did nothing to temper his desires to push the bounds of magic, nor his bitter hatred of the council.
